(46,436 posts)Isn't this swamp close to your house? That was you that posted all those beautiful swamp pictures a few years ago, right?

(46,436 posts)I never complain about pictures taken from the same spot. God knows I have enough photos of Mt. Susitna from Point Woronzof, but it's close and ever-changing, the perfect subject.

(19,459 posts)Had a great meal in town at The River Room.
Sorry to hear that they had a pretty bad fire downtown in the historic district earlier this year.
We sere there in May, 2012. Weather was gorgeous, and the skeeters not yet too bad (the innkeeper told us that they can be pretty ferocious at times).
Beautiful photo. I also remember your earlier series of shots.

(2,435 posts)and enjoy a trip to the River Room whenever an excuse permits. The fire was awful - no other word applies. I"m so glad you enjoyed your visit!

(19,459 posts)And the inside of the main house is gorgeous.
Even got a shot of the paddles on the wall inside the River Room, which they posted on their FB wall.
One 2-week roadtrip wasn't nrarly enough. We really hope to get down that way again. Such beautiful country, and so different from where we live (northern California).

(2,435 posts)But I seem to recall this row of oaks was down by the slave quarters
Adsos Letter
(19,459 posts)That was about the midway point of our trip. The most absolutely-perfect-in-every-way trip we've ever taken.
Thanks for the refresher!

Thank you.

Then I'm saddened by how much of that beauty is threatened, and how much has already been lost.

(8,039 posts)this wonderful it wouldn't take much to make it downhill from there out. Thinking it would be hard for a day to maintain such heights for the duration. Then I remember your other photos and am reminded that where you live is so beautiful the day does have an easier time of staying wonderful. (I hope I am making sense and you know I only mean good.)
I've missed your swamps and would welcome lots more in the future. Anyone that doesn't enjoy them can just not open your post.
