While autofocus is nice, most autofocus lenses suck in manual focus mode. I use manual focus quite a bit. In fact I don't use autofocus at all unless I have a need for it. Unfortunately I sold most of my manual focus lenses when I bought my D70, because I didn't think Nikon was ever going to support metering for them again. Boy was I wrong, and now I miss those lenses.

I think my camera is on a downward slide. It blinks off every now and then. I lost a bunch of photos yesterday. This shoot was how I redeemed the day. We are getting 5-8 inches of snow tonight, and cloudy weather all next week.

I love this lens. It is nice and sharp.

In certain other mounts (besides Canon perhaps), you can get some really great performing lenses for a song. Really great Nikkors are generally highly sought after and more expensive, but relative to new Nikkors there's still some great deals on the used market.

I got a great lens for cheap because it had a dented filter ring. I have worked with metal, so straightening it was no big thing.

to depend on manual focus. Even with the corrective diopter I find that I often mess up the focus - sometimes it's not much, but enough it bothers me. Although, I think my new diopter is more correct right now than my glasses. I need a new prescription.

Very nice photos, Alfredo. I usually prefer black and white to color, but in this case, I think the color of the horses shows more detail.

I have Macular degeneration, and cataracts, but I seem to do ok with the zoom LCD or EVF. I depend on the contrast to give clues.

I'm working on refining my black and white processing. Some images need to be color, but I'm much more comfortable with black and white.

All nice but that first one...great shading, shadows and tone and texture.
