Been thinking of picking up a cheap huge old Victorian Mansion for remodeling?

I went driving today towards Virginia across the Blue Ridge and ran across this building that collapsed inside itself at the side of the road.

First the adjoining land, then the mansion

1. A bit of a fixer-upper

but with "some" work and a bit of paint........

2. Resembles our house in DC,

built around 1913, and wonderful to live in, but we only bought it (in 1985) because we knew it needed NO improvements from us!!! Have fun!!!

3. The basement might still be salvagable.

What a shame that it is falling down. But you captured it's demise well.

5. A fixer upper that would go for 6 mil or so in the Napa Valley.

It looks like it has sat that way for a long time and nobody cares. I can't speak for the land that comes with it of course but you could probably get the house for between five and $10,000 and I am not joking.

Did the occupants take their belongings or are they still in there, below the slow decay of the home? Wish I was closer to the Blue Ridge mountains.

10. I will know on a pretty spring day

because I'll go back with some appropriate shoes and general camouflage . Of course it is posted that one is not allowed to enter, but the doors and windows are right there and open, as we all can see

11. Just be careful!

The floors in these places are usually fraught with danger. I would have gone through the floor of a house I was recently in had it not been for the carpet not ripping. Also watch out for critters (the furry kind and ticks!). Finally, post what you find!
