10 more entries to go.

Last edited Sat Mar 22, 2014, 12:10 AM - Edit history (4)

I can allow a few extra days to get submissions but I'll need 7 days to complete the contest. (3 prelims, 3 finals, posting the winners). Giving me some wiggle room for other stuff in my life.

I usually like giving the winner a few days prior to the next month to mull over how they want to run the next contest but that might not happen this time around.

I appreciate all the entries so far but we need more.

So....if you have an entry...

Thank you,

Solly

My Dad is finally home from the hospital.

Glad to be in his own house?

How's your mom holding up?

Good to see you. I was just thinking about you earlier this AM.

I'm tired and emotionally spent.

Mom is tired but too stubborn to ask for help.

Dad is doing fairly well. He's feeling better right now but the fact of the matter is his heart is a mess. The stent they put in has, for now, stopped the angina pain and he hasn't had another heart attack. The bypasses they did a number of years ago are blocked again but I don't think there is much more they can do. He's 87 and he's a tough old bird. Hopefully this latest stent bought him some pain free time.

He's very glad to be home. The first thing he did was get in his recliner and smile. Being inactive is just very hard for him. The day he had a heart attack he had been out working in his yard.

I took yesterday to do nothing.

We're going into town about 4:00 to see my parents after we pick up a few things for them at Kroger. I hope to take a few minutes to take some photos but it's really overcast, so it may rain.

We went into the city (50 minute drive). I find my graffiti spot that I had located spending hours on Google maps. I get out of the truck, grab my camera, go to take a photo and NO SD card. ARGGGGG

We drive 40 minutes toward my parents house on the other side of town and my husband remembers he has a small Kodak in the truck that has an SD card. Back across town we go...LOL

The things we do for photos.

After I got my photos we went back across town (again) to my parents house. To top it all off it was rush hour traffic. Anyway, for an 87 year old man who had a heart attack just a little over a week ago my dad looks good. He's still a little weak but not in too bad of shape.

How much longer do we have to get in our photo?

My husband was laughing because I was in the truck throwing my hands all around and looking like I was having a hissy fit. I'm sure someone went home and told somebody about the wild woman they saw today.

I do have one problem but it is a good one...I don't know which one I like the best and want to submit.

Used to be you had to be quick to get an entry in before the slots filled up.

Don't mind me. Just opining.

I remind myself, it's not about winning, it's really about getting out and doing it. I got so engrossed in what I was doing yesterday when I was taking photos that I almost stepped out into the road. When I'm into it, all of my troubles disappear and I'm enthralled with my subject. After such a terrible winter, it's going to be so much fun to get out this spring and really give my new camera a workout.

I was thrilled yesterday just because my exposures were right on...or at least the way I like them. The new camera is a learning experience and it feels good to master at least one aspect of it.

Sometimes a theme might prove difficult. Sometimes something else is going on in the person's life. A lot of reasons for not entering. I remember when I first started, how much I had to learn. (how much I still have to learn). I'd have photo envy (and equipment envy). Wanting to improve so I could take those kind of shots too. Not to win, just to learn to do it as well as others. I became determined more so than frustrated. Frustrated at myself, yes. Definitely.

I'm so glad you had the chance to forget everything for a while! Photography has been a real life saver for me. It has helped me through some bad times. It still does.

envy! I can't travel far because of a rod and screws in my back so I am very envious of people who can travel all over and get great subject matter. But, I have to remind myself that I live in a place people come from all over the world to see and I don't even take advantage of that so shame on me.

My main goal in life is to take THAT photo...you know, the one when you take it you know it's perfect (at least in your eyes. ) I'll enjoy the journey and if that never happens I will have had the fun of trying.

that when I posted the question I posted in another thread - I pretty much blew the blind submission thing - so I'm just gonna enjoy this one from the sidelines. Can't wait!
