Yep, bought a new camera. Did I need a new camera? No. Did I want a new, improved point and shoot? You betcha!
I looked at, and bought, the Fuji 8650 or some such thing. I took it home for a test drive. I loved the size and the feel and convenience of the controls. The macro was awesome. The overall picture quality, however, sucked. Took it back to the store and looked at the Nikon L830, which was a little more. The return guys were great. Credited my card with no fuss and no questions. I brought my SD card to test out the Nikon. The clerk was great about helping me test the display model. I tested it on all the reds in Target. Looked good, so I bought it. It was a special deal with $100 off regular price, plus I got a $20 Target gift card, which i promptly spent on a couple of price-slashed Blu-rays. Now I don't know whether to play with the camera or watch my movies.
Here are a few shots. Post processing is only my usual dynamic contrast and a little sharpening done in Perfect Effects.
This is my big test. If the color is right on this guy, all is good.
Did a little more processing on this one to make that earth look as red as it was.

(60,010 posts)I had a yellow rose for years that someone gave me, never caught the name, and am looking for the plant now that I have moved.
Your rose looks much like it.

Love the rose.
I like the color and those raindrops came across wonderfully.
Congrats on the new PS! I love having one handy.

(20,886 posts)Nice macro on this. My other P&S macro sucked. I got better close ups standing back and zooming in.
I'm really pleased with this camera. I love the tilt view.

(22,380 posts)congratulations on this new camera being in your capable hands.
Tell me, please, how did you get used to not having a view finder? I could use a good point and shoot, and would jump to it because the price with the 100 bucks off is very good. But I have given a perfectly fine camera away because it did not have one, and I could not stand it....
Beautiful photos.
The last one is so "you"!
And the rose gives me a catch in my throat, just when I thought I'm tired of flower photos.
