Related: About this forum**October's Contest Theme: The Textures of October**
The October contest will be based on another of the elements of photography: Texture in the context of the month of October.
Think of all the kinds of textures we see in photographs in October. It's fall, and there are many ways to interpret this. Use your imagination! The changing season, the colors, the harvest, the holidays (Octoberfest and Halloween).
I hope this will be fun and a challenge for all of you!
Submissions will be open on October 10th and will run until the 17th or there are 30 submissions, whichever comes first. I wanted to avoid colliding with the Summer Contest.
Please keep your photograph entry no larger than 800 pixels in its longest dimension and under 300K in file size, unless otherwise designated by contest host. If you need help posting a photograph or with image sizing just ask.
Please do not use frames other than small point outline edges.
Post-processing is allowed but a light hand would be appreciated. If there are any questions about what that covers, feel free to ask.
I am eager to see what you've got!

(31,370 posts)Hmm...maybe. We don't get much fall color here until later in October.
When we lived in the 'heartland' (Missouri and Nebraska) people used to decorate
their homes outside for Halloween the way some people decorate for Christmas. LOTS
of photo ops there! But people here don't do it.

Hope that helps!

(31,370 posts)when I encountered a display with great texture--and color--so I went back.
I also stopped and took photos of an interesting mushroom I've seen while out walking the dog.
Have no idea what kind of mushroom it is...but it also has interesting texture and is growing
against a rock wall.
