Frustrating

I finally set up my tripod (one-handed) and decided to use my Kodak instead of my more expensive Nikon in case I dropped the camera. I got the Kodak on the tripod and it's dead and the battery won't recharge. I thought two regular AA batteries would work but they won't. So either it's the battery or the camera is dead. Guess I have to order a new battery.

I want to take photos!

screwed up. My goal is to walk with the cane by myself by the end of November. My arm probably needs botox shots to get it back to where it needs to be.

At least I got my tripod set up by myself.

You are doing remarkably well. These things take some time to heal, but I think you'll be fine. When I had meningitis, it took me a couple of years to get my arms and fingers to work right, but gradually the feeling came back and the pain went away. Sorry about your camera, though.

I think the worst part was not knowing if it would get better. Plus, I had to completely change professions for a bit because i couldn't type. About two lines was all I could manage before my forearms would cramp up excruciatingly. This was a problem for a legal secretary, so I went to work as a corrections officer for a year because no typing was involved. Even when I was better and went back to legal secretarying, my arms would cramp up a lot. I just powered through though and finally worked my way back to full function.

When I went back To the legal biz, I was really lucky to have a very good chiropractor, Dr. Trevor Ireland, who treated me for eight months, three times a week, for free. He was appalled that my insurance would only pay $500 a year for chiropractic, so took me on as a charity case. I really think he helped.

Nobody ever talks about the pain of things like strokes.....or the depression.

I'm generally a pretty cheery person, but when my doctor told me I might get better or I might not, and when that constricting feeling around my elbows that made me feel like I didn't have any circulation down to my fingertips went on for months and months, it was hard not to get discouraged. Bad enough that I had to quit my job, but i couldn't play my flute either because it felt like it weighed 50 pounds, and at that time music was my passion (pre-photography). Gah ... Horrible memories.

You could use the tripod as a cane. Attach a lanyard to the tripod or monopod.

I did the monopod trick when I had a bum knee.

Life rather sucks right now.

that you have to buy. Live and learn....I will make sure that the next time I buy a camera, I get one without any super-special batteries. I don't even know if I can find the battery I need for my camera since Kodak went out of business. I haven't had to find out yet.

I feel for you....it can't be easy.
