Went to Bodega Bay today. After missing the road several times, I finally got there. The wetlands were gorgeous. The salt air turns the ice plant red.
A light fog hovered all day creating soft light.
The sand pipers were busy running to and fro; hither and yon.
Seagulls occupied every surface, including the one with "don't you dare sit here" seagull paraphernalia.
I can never resist shooting that marvelous beach grass. Such beautiful texture.
This is a little way past Bodega. The magnificent Northern California coast.
I continued on up to Goat Rock and Jenner before heading home, but no sea lions today. Guess they are all busy flipping around the streets of San Francisco.

(46,436 posts)I love Bodega Bay. I got a terrible sunburn up there once on just such a foggy day.

(4,775 posts)I am local, Bodega Bay is a half-hour drive. I went there Thursday morning (Portuguese Beach), the wind was down (springs are often windy here) and it was beautiful. Glad you found Goat Rock and Jenner, I used to live in Jenner, now I'm inland a little in the redwoods, anyway the Russian River mouth at Jenner is a special place, sometimes I kayak out there with the sea lions and harbor seals.
