Black Crowned Night Heron! Beautiful bird, spotted Green Heron this afternoon in my backyard.

They're hard to spot most of the time. They are so still, that I walk by them all the time.

The heron was about 15' away and while stepping back I noticed the cardinal further in the swamp

I know it makes me shallow (or whatever) but I keep stopping on the second photo

The Black Crowned Night Heron also comes around, solitary or in breeding pairs.
I love that long feather or two that they sport!

I will say that the cardinal was a fortunate shot. But they are all great.
