I thought NW Florida was the most boring place on earth. Quite a bit going on around here.

But , unfortunately, they won't let the public see the big hole it created. Living near an Air Force base is rather interesting . We lived, at that time, about 20 miles away from it and you could hear the various ordinance going off when the weather was right. When they fired their high-speed gatling gun at their practice range it had a very distinctive "Brrrrurrrp" sound.

It was a very, very large container of some sort of ungodly explosives that had a bomb attached to it. They dropped it and it ruptured at a certain height spraying the area with an explosive mist and then the bomb went off igniting the mist - basically a hell of a big blast.

Too bad that there are only two things about 20 miles from me, and the rest are much further. Certainly there must be something closer! (But I am not thinking of anything.)

I wasn't aware of it until now.

Another good site is http://www.roadsideamerica.com/

It's the site I use to look for interesting places when I'm on the road looking for interesting places!
