(31,384 posts)Although my 'roadside attraction' is in South America!
This is basically a turn-off the road--at the highest elevation-- on the road from Cusco to Puno and Lake Titicaca.

(17,086 posts)I can see this bill board from the front yard (across a pasture or two). I just walked out to the highway and took a few shots at dusk. I think this was the first one.

(90,762 posts)I like you - otherwise I'd tell you how bad you suck right now.
Seriously. You suck.
You know I'm kidding, right?
Not about liking you, of course.

(17,086 posts)And I had to walk upslope.
(Just one way, though.)
Solly Mack
(90,762 posts)Upslope, one way. That had to hurt.
lol
I do feel better. Thank you.

(20,886 posts)What's the mystery?
Solly Mack
(90,762 posts)I was going to post an inside shot but those are mostly panoramas and too large for the contest.
I do have some up close of the porch but I wanted the name in the photo.
But the porch shots don't quite explain the mystery either.
I do plan to do a thread about the place - with photos, of course.
The mystery is - there is no mystery. It's a fun place filled with interactive displays and oddities.
A sign is blocked by bikes and other stuff that reads, "Bring a sense of humor" - and you should because it's a tongue-in-cheek, ironic, and sarcastic take on roadside attractions, complete with alien crashes, "gatordog", and Thelma, the 32 foot alligator.

(20,886 posts)I think your extended excursion turned up a gem.
Solly Mack
(90,762 posts)Very nice shot of him.

(20,886 posts)That's probably cheating, but I do love Woodstock.

(7,346 posts)off beat, you might say
It is one of two exhibits showing at the former Movieland Wax Museum site in Buena Park, Ca. This whole strip of Beach Blvd is like roadside attractions Orange County style, lots of grandiose kitsch over the years slowly going to seed

(60,071 posts)A boardwalk or places like Larimer Square, and 4th Street in Louisville, Ky are an attraction.

(18,219 posts)Not what I had wanted to do, but I will not be going to the place that I really wanted until the end of the month. Bummer. But that's ok. If I get any good photos when I go, I'll just post them later without entering a contest.

(18,219 posts)The photo was pretty dark, so I had to work on it to get the colors to show well.....got practice on using post-processing software.

(60,071 posts)The new OSX Photos app is like Aperture lite, and it has really changed the way I convert RAW files.
Solly Mack
(90,762 posts)I'm glad.

(22,340 posts)Be gentle; this is my first entry ever and calling me an amateur is being kind, but I saw the topic and I love this old statue on one of my biking routes. Has NOTHING to do with the appliances sold there, but it so reaches back to a different time.
I edited my post in the submission thread after a very kindly friend let me know that any discussion goes here.

(18,219 posts)There is one every month, and one for each season, so there is plenty of opportunity. We will be gentle...but I will not promise what the voters will do.

(22,756 posts)no great photo but doing my part for the contest I could have stopped to get photos of so many awesome roadside attractions driving Portland, OR to Houston, TX but once I get on the road it's non-stop... but, had to stop in Moab and the Arches!! for a quick drive through...
