That's Carl, and he's using Lee filters. I bought some cheapo Cokins just to see how they work, but they gave kind of a pinkish cast to everything. The reviews on the Cokins warned of that, but I got the experience anyway by taking them along. I might have to get myself some good filters because I do like the effect on clouds and so on.
I know there are digital ways to get the same effect, but I kind of like old school.
