Japanese maples at our house

The Japanese maples have just turned brilliant red around here (Chapel Hill, NC) in the last day or so.

Took these this morning. First one is a large, older tree and the second is a dwarf we planted about 3 years ago.

Since I only live an hour away from you, the timing for mine is exactly the same. Burning red, as of a few days ago, and shedding the leaves ever so reluctantly. Like both very much, the first is a wonderful pattern, the second one a perfect Christmas photograph.

No sun on the leaves when I took the photos, but when the sun is shining on the leaves they are pretty close to the color
in the photos.
