Related: About this forumGo f*ck yourself, Photobucket!
I have had an account with them for well over a decade, and have used it for photos I linked to over here. Contests, WFOT, end-of-year retrospectives, everything.
Well, I just got an email informing me that my account was being restricted because of "excessive 3rd-party hosting," and that all such links would be disabled until I converted my free account to a "convenient" monthly-subscription one.
Does the term "HELL, NO!" mean anything to you, Photobucket?
From now on, if I want to post anything here, I guess I'll host it on my own ISP. In the meantime, I'm afraid all my previous photo posts will be D.O.A. in a very short time, if they aren't already. Sic transit gloria mundi (or, in English, "Gloria Mundi just got motion sickness on the subway" .

(204,656 posts)I first started using Photobucket back when I joined DU in 2003. There was a Lounge thread asking for pix of your pets and I said that I didn't know how to post pix, so a kind DUer showed me how. I've been using it ever since. I even upped my subscription to a paid membership when I collected too many pix, but the price they're asking now is ridiculous.

(27,430 posts)I just checked. I didn't get an email, though. My account was only 22% full.
I wish DU was set up like Facebook and we could just post pictures directly from our personal files without going through a hosting site.
