I believe that they are old cypress trees, planted by the Army in the 1880's-1890's.

Where did you take these? It looks like NoCal, maybe San Francisco or thereabouts?

Battery Chamberlin sits at the mouth of the Golden Gate, on the Peninsula (San Francisco) side. It is part of an old coastal battery bunker complex that was built to guard the entrance to the bay. They are all abandoned now. These views look across toward the Marin side.

Love the 2nd! I find it mesmerizing - you've captured water reflecting the sunset and the colors involved! Relaxing! Thanks for the mini vacay here!

That first one with the trees has a real painterly quality to it. Do much post processing? Sky and water colors in the 2nd are breath taking. It's so fun to be in the right place at the right time, isn't it?

Not so much on the others. I'm still having struggles with the Manual setting; often can't seem to get the ISO/aperture/shutter speed balance right, which leaves me with images that are either too dark or too noisy. I'm just not getting in the practice time which makes for improvement.

Having said all that...it's practically impossible not to come away with something nice around the Golden Gate.
