On a recent chilly day I was out back visiting with chickadees and juncos while walking through about two and a half feet of Vermont snow. I was surprised that the light wind carried the aroma of last year's bee balm patch. All the blossoms had gone by, settled in for their winter's rest. Yet, there was that delightful aroma.

Flowers are such gifts. They give and give and give.

that there’s still beauty in the world. I think my blood pressure went down about 5 points. Thanks for sharing, California Peggy.

That is the joy of having 12 month growing season, flowers in our winter!

BTW, I looked in a couple of tree books and could not identify that beauty you took pictures of earlier.

We are indeed very lucky.

I know some horticulturists......I'll ask them what the flowering tree is. They're all over the place here. (The trees, NOT the people, lol!)

They reminded me of Rhodies, but no, that's not what that is. Let me know what you find out
