Another update on bird nest - with photos.

Imagine my surprise...

I knew it would happen, still...

This was what I saw

Then I made clicking sounds

I will not be looking again. Not great photos because I was worried about the baby. I was a nervous wreck until I was completely away from the basket.

I actually felt bad I didn't have anything he could eat.

It is almost impossible to make the parents abandon it. Paternal instinct is STRONG in birds.

If you don't become aggressive in your photography you can document the growth of the fledgelings without concern.

I had a Carolina wren build a nest in my garage door opener. Every day the opener jostled the best at least 4 times a day. I found baby birds in the roof of my car 3-4 times and just put them back with no Ill effects. All the babies grew up and flew away.

They will be fine and so will you. They will be grown and gone in two weeks.

I understand your feelings about not having anything to feed to the chick...but that's an amazing photo!

I'm glad the momma bird came right back.

Ya done good.

The other eggs should hatch over the next few days. I'll sit in a rocker and listen out for the chirping.

It made me giggle at first. Until I felt guilty about not being able to feed him.

You know I love birds, Solly. Have two finches. Halle and Barry. They have still not produced babies. Halle keeps throwing the eggs out and breaking them.

For some reason, a lot of people don't like my first name. I tell them to never move to France.

I thought about you when I saw the baby. I called the baby Buzz because of the fluff on his head and because like Buzz Lightyear, the baby will be going "to infinity and beyond" soon enough, as he flies the nest for the first time.
