Many years ago, while visiting my parents, I went outside after dark to put something in the trash can. As I turned to come back in the house, I noticed what I thought to be a large rope laying in the driveway. I couldn't figure out why my dad would have left it there, and I went over to pick it up.

And at that moment, one end of the 'rope' turned into the head of a snake, and it started looking up at me.
That was the fastest I ever ran into the house in my life!

I am now living in that same house, and I really watch it when I go outside, 24/7. I live in critter country.

I once sat on a rattle snake when I was a kid in California. Fortunately, my reflexes were faster than the snake's.
