Winter Contest Information: EDITED

Last edited Mon Mar 11, 2019, 04:06 AM - Edit history (2)

What do you all think of opening it to 2 entries by Friday afternoon? Comment below!

ill be closing this context but 4pm EST so there’s still a little time!

Hi all-
February was a crazy month and now it's almost over, which means it's time for the WINTER contest! I'll make a separate post on Friday for submissions and one for comments, but please have a look at the rules pasted below. What does Winter look like where you're based? We've had a pretty mild winter here in West Virginia.

I'm traveling yet again (expect some photos of the Canary Islands), so I'll keep the submissions open for 10 days (or 30 posts, whichever comes first). This will allow me to post the Prelims in GD before flying on the 10th. Of course, if we need more time and entries, I'm happy to extend the submissions process a few more days.
Good luck!

SEASONAL CONTEST RULES:

There are 4 Seasonal Contest. Each contest is scheduled to run at the end of each season so that those in the far north and far south have a chance to enter. Seasonal does not only mean weather, it includes things like seasonal holidays so be creative. If your winters are tropical or summers cool feel free to show the rest of us how bad (or good) we have it with your local version of the season.

Submissions Dates are

WINTER March 1st

SPRING June 1st

SUMMER September 1st

FALL December 1st

The winner of the seasonal contest agrees to host the next seasonal contest or recruit someone else to host the contest.

Only one entry per person. You need to post your entry in the submission thread started by the Host of the contest. Please be sure to include a "Title" for your photograph in the Subject line of your post. The submission thread is for photo entries only, no comments or questions. The Host will start a separate thread just for comments and/or questions.

The Host is allowed to enter the Seasonal Contest.

There will be no extra rules on the Seasonal Contest beyond keeping your entry no larger than 1024 pixels in its longest dimension and under 675K in file size and limit photo editing to a reasonable amount. We would prefer your photo look like a photograph instead of a digital design. If you aren’t sure, ask the group in a separate thread. You’ll get plenty of feedback to specific questions.
If you need help posting a photograph or with image sizing, just ask.

Submissions will be limited to 30 entries maximum unless the Photography Group votes to change the limits.

The Submission & Comment threads will be posted in the Photography Group. The Preliminary polls and Final Contest poll will be posted in GD per Skinner’s permission.

The Host of the Contest may copy and paste these rules into their submission thread or post a link to these rules into the submission thread. The Host WILL copy and paste the CONTEST LICENSE into the submission thread in its entirety. (At end of this post)

This is for ALL Contests.

CONTEST LICENSE:

An entrant to this contest, by submitting a photograph, is giving permission for that photograph to be copied to Demopedia or to a linked Gallery and included in a DU Calendar that will display the photographs entered for this contest for the purpose of publicizing future contests and/or commemorating current and past contests. The entrant retains all other rights to the photograph being submitted. Neither Demopedia and/or a linked Gallery may use any photograph submitted for any purpose other than to display the photograph being submitted by the entrant, and neither gains any real or implied ownership rights to the photograph.

Seems like things are lagging. They usually do, unfortunately.

I'm in favor of two entries!
