Cyanotypes

Yesterday I took a Cyanotype class, yes a seriously old school process, because I've really felt the need to pop back into the darkroom.

I really like the blue tone of this process and the depth of the finished print, oh and another plus with this process is that it's easy to create the prints on most natural fabrics.

A good place to learn about Cyanotypes and other alternative processes:

So basically I'm revisiting some of my old shots and taking a look at the possibility of making them into digital negatives to create Cyanotypes. I've done a Photoshop conversion just to give me an idea but the digital version just doesn't give you the depth of the real thing. I'm thinking of a series of iPhone shots to kick 2012 back to 1842.

We should all learn these alternative techniques so we can go on taking pictures after the crash of industrial civilization.
