Related: About this forum2nd set, Swallow-tailed Kite on Grey
Swallow-tailed Kite arrive here in March from as far south as Brazil. They love to ride the thermals and are often seen around our summer afternoon thunderstorms, rarely flapping their wings at twice the wingspan of hawks but half the weight.

(8,890 posts)5. Thank you all! Would anyone believe
that the same lens took the Dragonfly and Swallow-tail photos? It is a Nikkor 200-500 with a TC20 making it 400-1000mm, that can focus down to 7'. Many subjects are not bothered by your presence at 7'. I've only had it a month and haven't taken it off the camera yet!
