(8,317 posts)My dad did some work for the electric boat works when we were young. We would stay in unanticipated for a few weeks in the summer. My wife and I went back a few years ago for a wedding in Mystic and were actually able to rent the house we stayed in as a kid. Not much had changed. It was still a beach cottage. There was an odd view of a nuclear power plant at the beach at the foot of the street.
After a beautiful sunrise like that, I would head to the shack for one of there massive breakfast plates.

(42,770 posts)I was trying to capture sunrise without taking a picture of the sun. Our rental is second row behind these ocean front homes. But if you zoom in you can see our bedroom windows .
Would LOVE a big breakfast. Unfortunatly with avocado toast people

(8,317 posts)My I miss New England. The Costal regions, the NH Lakes, the western ma, NH and VT foliage runs, the cool crisp air of the fall, fresh fallen snow, pizza in the north end, seafood on the cape, coffee syrup in RI, Dunkin Donuts, The Mystic and Boston aquariums. I miss them all. Need to get back sooner.

(67,782 posts)....the house was bought back in the 1930s (cheap) and it's been in the family ever since. We get down there a couple of times a year for a day (we're less than an hour away). Unfortunately we didn't last year. Hopefully in July or August.

(8,317 posts)THey were great. Traveling with 2 dogs and 2 kids for close to 10 hours on I95 was rough, but Mystic Pizza would let me call an order of pizza and salad in, and they would have it ready for us when we got there. We would eat in the little pub room on the left as you face. My wife and I would take turns walking the dogs to the drawbridge and back while the other ate with the kids, then back on the road. so much better than a fast food stop on the NJT. We would be back on the road in about 30 minutes.

(5,420 posts)One imagines stepping from boulder to boulder and reaching the pier and following it out over the water, all the while seeing the sky beyond, the sailboat at anchor reflected in the water, detailed above the surface, mast reaching against the sky. Gull sounds all around.
Thank you for showing us!
