Sunrise in a smoke-filled sky in Idaho, every day now. It's not usually like this until September. Been this way now since July, as the country burns.

DAMN these climate change deniers who block any efforts to mitigate these conditions!

(8,308 posts)The weather channels advise staying inside. I do but it still burns my eyes. Oh, they will be damned, but not until it's too late.

(86,536 posts)A little further north in Montana. I was down in SE Idaho last week and it was a lot clearer there, south of the SRP, than it has been here since first week of July. Regardless, that's still an unhealthy level of smoke. All our mornings are orange tinged as are the sunsets. We've had rain, good, long, soaking rains the past ten days but it did little to nothing to mitigate the smoke.
I just figure I've become a two-pack-a-day smoker until it clears up.

(8,308 posts)We got a little rain but also a lot of lightning which started more fires. They've all been mostly contained now but CA breezes keep blowing our way.
Funny, I quit smoking many years ago but a little while ago i had this scent in my nose that took me back. I guess actual smokers' smoke mingles with the fire smoke to make it even more deadly. Big sigh....
