(14,559 posts)A small grass snake I found on my walk today. We hung out for a few hours and I got 200 or so exposures.

(14,559 posts)60mm 2.8 macro somewhere near f10 with a home made diffuser on an OM FL 700 flash. The macro is the only piece of equipment I have that's not weather proof, something I plan to remedy when OMDS offers the 100mm macro. Even the flashes are weather proof.
The 'crop factor' for 4/3 cameras is 2:1 so 60mm is FF 120 equivalent.
FWIW OMDS will announce a new camera tomorrow. Looking forward to that! It's been a long dry spell.

(4,999 posts)As a side note, I recently acquired a Canon G1 X Mark III for my hiking/backpacking trips. Packs a APSC sensor into a very small body, has a flash, viewfinder, and the 24-72mm FF equiv lens is quite good for a compact sized camera. The camera only weighs 14oz with a battery in it, and is dust/water resistant too. Perfecto!
I'll post some images as I get more acquianted with it.

(1,576 posts)Did you just hang with him/her? Was it chilly in the morning so motion was minimal?
Or did you pop it into the fridge for a few minutes to slow it down? or none of the above?

(14,559 posts)The dogs and I were walking to the local park down a white gravel road and she was right in the middle of the road. Stuck out like a sore thumb! I just picked her up, she's about 15" long, and and took her home with me.
She was quite active, so I did chill her a bit but most of the good stuff was with her hanging from a dowel in my table top studio.
I tried to get a pic of her with her tongue out but after four hours I gave up and took what I had. I try not to stress my subjects too much and after awhile if they don't settle down I let them go whether I have what I want or not.
I'm call it a she because the internet says her anatomy indicates it.

(14,559 posts)I had a great time with her but she never calmed down so we parted company before I was tired of the shoot. I actually left her in a safer place than I found her--she was in serious danger of being eaten my crows or grackles where I found her.

(14,559 posts)More for me than her but it isn't always like that. Some critters settle right in as soon as they figure out you won't eat them. When I first moved in I found a 6' coachwhip in the back yard and she was just a calm and relaxed as could be. Once we got past the bitey part . . .
