If you watch it real time. You can prolly wait several weeks to reduce the cost. Worth it.

It is illegal to download copyrighted fee-service material, but if you "live stream" the FBI and your ISP don't seem to care.

Trekker am I, prefer the original name. Have watched originals thru present but I refuse to pay an additional fee.

And it will eventually make it to Netflix or something. Look forward to a good one. All the characters are good. No troi, no neelix, no ferangi, no Geordie's mom....

I waited to binge watch the serious and used a second free trial not to pay for it. I love Star Trek, but these show writers don't.

My thinking was that:

1) broadcast TV is going the way of the dinosaur anyway, so
2) I understand that CBS wants to compete with streaming services, and
3) with a bigger budget (from streaming revenue), they can afford to do more and better special effects (this is sci fi, and people will expect that!), which is a very good thing for the show.
4) Being a "for pay" show also lifts FCC constraints on content (also good).
5) It's only $5.99/mo. (with limited commercials), and it's worth it to me to be able to watch it unspoiled, especially in consideration of the above reasons.

I love this show! I was not disappointed in regard to the special effects. Each episode has stunning visuals. It stars Sonequa Martin-Green (I already love her from playing Sasha on The Walking Dead), and Doug Jones plays a major alien character (he plays the "monster" in The Shape of Water, too). That made me want to see it as it aired, too. Just had to do it!

As a long time Trek fan, I just could not sit it out to wait for it elsewhere, and to be honest, I do not miss the $5.99 at all (and I'm on a fixed income). It has been money well spent! I am, overall, happy to make a small contribution toward making this spectacular show.

At the very least, sign up for the final episode (coming soon!), binge watch it, then cancel.
