Alex Trebek back in chemotherapy

“Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek said Monday in an interview with ABC’s “Good Morning America” that he had resumed chemotherapy for stage 4 pancreatic cancer about a month after reporting he was “on the mend.”

Despite the earlier progress, Trebek told the program he was undergoing another round of therapy, saying his doctors made the decision after he lost a significant amount of weight.

"My numbers went sky high, much higher than they were when I was first diagnosed. So, the doctors have decided that I have to undergo chemo again and that's what I'm doing," Trebek said, saying he had lost 12 pounds in a week.

The host said he had also dealt with depression since his initial diagnosis, adding "When it happened early on I was down on myself. I didn’t realize how fallible each of us is in his or her own way … I talk to the audience sometimes and I get teary eyed for no reason. I don’t even bother to explain it anymore, I just experience it. I know it's a part of who I am and I just keep going.”

When I read about RBG having it removed, I was stunned. I didn't even know that was possible.
Most people I have known that were diagnosed didn't even make it to 6 months. My dad lived a year with this awful disease.
I didn't even know Alex Trebek had it until I read it on Twitter a couple months ago, my heart stopped. I hope he is able to conquer it to a degree where he is able to live a comfortable life for as long as possible.

diseases out there. I'm sorry, I hate to hear of others that watched a loved one suffer through this awful disease. My dad passed 8 years ago, I still think of him each and every day.

For 3 months I saw him go downhill and lose weight. Finally he got to point he couldn’t come in anymore. Terrible cancer. Chemo doesn’t really work that well on that type of cancer.

Having undergone chemotherapy myself, I don't know how he keeps going. It does indeed cause depression in many people.

Wishing him all the best of health and strength.

but it is filmed in advance and it seems this set back is very recent. I hope he gets through this round of chemo. I can't imagine Jeopardy with out him. I am a big fan.

7. A terrible disease.

My mother was diagnosed with a diffuse variety of it back in 2006. No surgical option. The chemo they had back then didn’t even slow it down. She was gone less than 4 months after diagnosis.

Hopefully Alex will beat this. But I’m sure he knows the odds are against him.

Having to deal with all that baggage must be tiresome. Stage four cancer, chemotherapy and depression. Yet he still carries on with his public life. I wish him continued strength and endurance.
