watching this...and I'm hooked. I finished season one and am on to season 2. I'm currently watching it on demand. Any other fans?
I love movies, tv series and books in this genre.
And the theme song is pretty good too.
Strike Back is a British action and military television series, based on a novel of the same name by novelist and former Special Air Service (SAS) soldier Chris Ryan. The series follows the actions of Section 20, a secretive branch of the British Secret Intelligence Service (MI6), who operate several high risk, priority missions throughout the globe. The series began broadcasting on Sky1 on 5 May 2010, showing the first six-part series. After a second series was commissioned, it was announced that Cinemax would co-produce the franchise. The first episode of the ten-part second series, undergoing the banner title Project Dawn in the United Kingdom, first aired on Cinemax on 12 August 2011. On 3 October 2012, Cinemax and Sky commissioned a fourth series, to be broadcast sometime in 2013.[1][2]

(17,055 posts)Is it mostly all about the military? I don't care for military series/movies very much. But TV has been pretty boring since xmas. I've been watching a lot of on demand movies, sigh.
I did find one new (to me) show that hooked me on Starz and I gobbled up the whole first season on demand. It's 'Magic City'. Have you watched it?

(20,043 posts)is a small elite team..that's made up of British and American. It's small very small, so you don't get the big military feel from this show. They're known as 'section 20' they're very covert.
There is a back story on the members. It's not your typical 'yay military' series, they show the ugly side of both the British and American military. What they do to get things done. Of course there's some redeeming stuff. One of the main characters, is a womanizing asshole. Then there's the British guy who's married and cheating on his wife. The leader of the small group is a hard as nails woman who takes no shit from anyone.
It's really very good.
As for Magic City--love it. My husband, son and I all watch it. It's got that mob thing going on. Lots of sex--fyi. We were just talking about it the other day. Looking forward to the next season.
I watch a lot of the original programs on the pay channels. I started watching the first season of Showtimes House of Lies...seems pretty good too.
Don Cheadle is in it and I like him a lot.
House of Lies (stylized as HOU$E OF LIE$) is an American dramatic/comedy television series created by Matthew Carnahan.[1] The show, which premiered on Showtime on January 8, 2012, is based on the book, House of Lies: How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Then Tell You the Time, written by Martin Kihn, a former consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton. It follows a group of management consultants who stop at nothing to get business deals done, even if it calls for extremes. On February 1, 2012, it was renewed for a second season.[2]
The second season is set to premiere January 13, 2013 at 10 pm.[3]

(17,055 posts)I really, really, really like Don Cheadle but I don't care much for comedy. Comedy was my husbands own thing and true crime was/is mine, so I watch a lot of the ID channel.

(20,043 posts)I watch the ID channel too. I'm a big comedy fan either--cept for Weeds but that's really a dramedy. House of Lies is kinda like that too.
If you decide to watch Magic City let me know if you like that too.
Now what I can't wait for is Jan. 25 the final season of Spartacus!!

(17,055 posts)I've noticed that you have a much broader range of genres that you enjoy than I do. I tried Weeds and didn't like it. I'm finicky. I wish I had a broader range to enjoy, your lucky that you do.
I was totally shocked that I liked Game of Thrones. That was a first for me. I have to admit that I do give a lot of stuff a try even if they are not my type. But more often than not I remain pretty finicky.

(20,043 posts)Be glad you won't watch just about anything...it's embarrassing to tell people how much crap I watch. LOL!

(17,055 posts)Believe me, I usually find plenty of stuff to watch even if I have to resort to movies on demand, lol. That's what I had to do over this stupid winter break my shows took.
edit to add: I watched the whole first season of Magic City in about two days. Love it!! I don't know why but I always like me some mafia type stuff??? What ever the reason, I just do. Ike is handsome don't ya think?

Yes, Ike is very handsome. He was on Grey's Anatomy before Magic City so I was already drooling over him. He played a real tear jerker role on Greys.
I watch movies on demand too, that's where I first saw Simon Birch...which is one of my favorite movies.
edited to add: I think Jeffery Dean Morgan plays the character very well and looks like he belongs in that era. They cast that brilliantly in my opinion.

I just watched S1E1 and it was excellent! Most of the time I have to watch 3 or 4 episodes before I make up my mind about a show. This one had me at hello. I hope to have time to watch a couple more episodes today.
With friends like you I'll never get any house work done! lol
In reality I want to thank you for the recommendation, it was a good one

(20,043 posts)I know what you man about getting house work done. I have a strict schedule I stick to otherwise I wouldn't get anything done. LOL. I also love my steam mop, saves time and it cleans great!
I've just finished episode 5 of Banshee, and will probably watch episode 6 tonight. I'm totally hooked. I'm going to try and get my husband to watch, I think he'll like it too.
I hope nothing else new starts, I've been reading like a fiend and don't have time for any new shows. LOL.
Enjoy the rest of Strike Back. There were a few episodes that were sad.

I've already gobbled up all of season one. Damn it was good!
We are expecting the next couple of days to be a dull cloudy/rainy/snowy around here. Is that enough of an excuse to just watch season two Hell yeah it probably is.
I love Banshee too. Cinemax has a couple good series. I haven't tried the other one, I think it's called "Hunted", have you.
I agree, thank the gods for steam mops!!!
