(20,805 posts)....I started watching the pilot when my wife was out of the room and got to the bridge scene and was blown away...my wife came back in the room and I told her 'you HAVE to watch this'....re-wound it back to the beginning and watched it to that point again...her mouth was wide open by the time we reached the same point again..."This is really, REALLY good" was her reaction...
Definitely looking forward to the rest of the season...

(38,958 posts)My wife said she would give it one more week, which is more than I will be doing. I was hoping for better as I really like James Spader, but this show in my opinion was just poorly written and using many overused plot devices that are currently in vogue.

(34,095 posts)last night. I thought it was pretty good. Mainly I loved the character for Spader. Always love watching him. I hope it is successful so we can continue to watch him.

(21,733 posts)It is obvious that they want to try and re-create and even expand on the Hopkins/Foster dynamic from Silence of the Lambs but it's not coming across very well. Spader is good but he is not as perfect for this type of role as Hopkins was, nor does he have as good of a script to work with. I am also having a lot of trouble getting into the whole back plot of who-is-boyfriend-and-why-does-Spader-care-so-much, it's just not grabbing me and I am finding myself having a hard time caring about either.
On the bright side, they are coming up with some cool bad guys of the week and that part of the show is being really well done so far. I'm not turning it off yet but with things like Serangoon Road & Peaky Blinders, vying for my attention as new shows, it's going to need to pick things up.

(12,894 posts)think it is anything like Hopkins/Foster. Actually, it's not like anything I've seen yet--with th possible exception to Alias with Jennifer Garner and Victor Garber.

(1,805 posts)My husband enjoys it also. James Spader in anything is almost always good. I still miss Boston Legal. Sure, it's got holes here and there but we watch it for entertainment, not as a documentary. Sure beats watching some un-reality show (as I call them anyway).

(8,515 posts)Suspension of disbelief is very difficult in this show. Guy knows everything about everyone connect with crime and Terrorism in the world.. Spader is good at what he does, but an actor can never overcome silly writing.
Example.. Having Spader in that dumb containment cell, in the beginning..Poor reenactment of Silence of the Lambs
holding cell for hannibal except this one moves from behind Iron doors to middle of the floor. Stupid!!

(7,720 posts)I watched the first 4 or 5 episodes and was mildly entertained but the editing and story lines just became less appealing. I missed 2 episodes in the beginning of November, I have had the opportunity to catch up with On-Demand but I just never got around to it. Now, I've decided I don't need another television show to keep up with. The writing is lacking. I too wonder about that box of stuff under the floor.
