The latest version of Survivor is ALMOST what I wanted. I wanted ot get rid of all the sily returning players and get a boat load of new players. Well, we got it. No returning players this season. But what we did get was a celeb of sorts. Cliff Robinson of the NBA (Go Blazers) is on the island. Though he is in his mid-40s, it will be interesting to see what a near 7 footer (He played at 6'10" can do to use that height as an advantage.
The brains, beauty brawn thing will probably get old quick. I am sure we will get the brawny guy with the heart of a teddy bear, the mean hot girl and likeable socially inept geek. I am hoping what we get is some good players, but I won't mind the good looking bikini shot every now and then.
Hope you all will enjoy watching another season with me. As always, please no spoilers in any thread I start.

(31,514 posts)and over and over again. I might check it out this season. I really enjoyed it for the first several seasons, but it got too be too much of the "brains, beauty, brawn" thing and the challenges were more brawn than brains. I realize the physical part is important, but there was a real risk of someone getting seriously injured.

(4,851 posts)I mean they all involved a physical element, but each also has a problem solving element. Usually its a puzzle. But some have had other problem solving, like order of completion and some applied physics. I think you should give it a watch. I love the show.

(4,851 posts)For the first time since the first season, I have not watched any videos online or previews. All I know about the season is th efew commercials I have seen and the bit Probst did at the finale last season. All I know is thats its brains, beauty and brawn, that Cliff Robinson (NBA player) is there and that its three tribes. I am excited, but I don;t even know what the players are, other than the group photo I saw. I was tempted to watch some stuff last night, but I decided to just wing it this year.
Enjoy the season.

(34,105 posts)here. I am tending to the burned out side of Survivor, or was, and that is probably why I have not even thought about looking. The last two were better with the one before Blood vs Water actually drawing me back into being excited about the game. I have not looked at a single thing except to look up the start date the other day.
I hope we all enjoy it. It is one of my two guilty pleasures on TV I hate to lose it, it brings back some fun memories of my boys before they grew up and moved into their own lives. We used to have a lot of fun with that show.

So far (with our limited knowledge of the players) Cliff, Woo, Sarah and Kass are my favorites.
Cast, photos and brief bios are here: http://www.cbs.com/shows/survivor/cast/
That "aw, shucks" southern boy, Jeremiah, on the "beauty" team...
