It brought up an interesting point of discussion at home involving the "suspension of disbelief."

The idea that Lopez would pass the background check to become not only a police officer but a member of an elite squad is ludicrous, but the viewer is willing to "blow that off" because the show is well scripted and character development is really well done. When the action is engaging and the characters are likeable (or suitably evil) the technical accuracy of the show doesn't really matter.

"The Last Ship" is another such show. The technical inaccuracies are just awful, but the characters are pretty cool and the show's plot, while rather childish, is engaging.

"Graceland" was a point in the opposite case. The plot was dull, and the characters were all assholes and so the technical inaccuracies, which were legion, grated horribly. We quit watching it.
