Colbert caught between the past and dumbed down network TV

Watched for the first time last night.

Wish he had never left CC

Hope he finds his way - but it was bad, IMHO.

First he has the likable but seemingly shallow Emily Blunt. (At least his celebrity guests on CC had substance). Then he launches into an odd education on the Supreme Court (like he knows his new audience doesn't know it's the third branch of government) before his interview of Breyer. Sorry, but can't imagine the average joe staying tuned in for that.

When does Jon's replacement start? Giant hole in TV before bed watching

Watched him twice and he really has the dust of his CC around him. He labored , I thought, to try to make a point and I even sensed some desperation in his manner. I love Steve - but this may not be his venue.
