Not like the 70s, but we've had several wonderful morning rains, and one amazing storm on Saturday night.
Last year we had nothing until late September.

I keep hearing from my sister in Tempe and son in Tucson about the rain, the rain, the rain...meanwhile we have been under a flash flood watch for a week and nothing! they extended it to today and finally got it right.

Everyone is okay..most of homes here are winter snowbird..hubby takes care of 8 of them..we got right out there, all is well except for some minor damage to a/c cover..

Our friend was at the grocery store when it hit..he said those who had checked out, couldn't get out of the store for the wind..he even said someone was worried about their ice cream..

When he got home, 1/2 the back of his patio was GONE!!! They're okay..we offered them a place to stay..he said it is just the patio..they be okay!!!

"batten down the hatches"..I looked out was enjoying looking at the rain..and all of a sudden..I saw wind swept rain coming in from the WNW..across the 1st fairway..I honestly thought the windows on the north side were going to break..all is well here, but our neighbors 2 doors up lost their roof..

When all was said and done, we tooled around our neighborhood..OMG..roof.. 1/2 a house on the street (56th)..patio roof and patio damage to many neighbors homes....seems whatever it was tore through, smashing and crashing..even some of our beautiful very old pines..down..Falcon Field just to our west..planes suffered major damage..

Channel 3 and hovering copters for the news.. this huge pine..right out back on the course..

Stay safe all..monsoon is here!!! NO, I am not complaining..everyone is okay, and we needed the rain..update..just how the Washington Palms stay upright is beyond me..

NO sprinklers on last night..the crew assigned to all the tree removal was here 'bout 9:30..4 guys and a chain saw..wood chipper and huge truck for the largest pieces from the tree trunks..#3, where we are, #6, #8, #9 all had large pines downed..

NO GOLF today....

Peoria/35th Avenue area.
35th was closed from Cactus to Dunlap from downed power poles, and some of the neighborhood didn't get power back until Wednesday.

We were pretty lucky - no damage, just a lot of wind and rain. And some weird green lightning flash that I think probably had something to do with the power outage.

I know where Peoria/35th Ave is..we are in NE Mesa..I think we were lucky, whatever it was missed us with full force by yards..and not that many..as you can see, poor tree took it on the chin...but for those of us who are not snowbirds, we are okay...

but we will have our "spring" soon, I hope. the ocotillos already leafed out after a smaller rain about a week ago and the ground is turning green already. it has been a long year.

we are technically Chihuahuan semi desert grassland here.

this was nothing but sand and bare dirt a week ago -

well, the brush was there but the sprouts on the ground weren't. LOL

there is a reasonable possibility of some rain each day for the next seven days
This is reminiscent of 'olden day' monsoons,,,, it is joyous!! We need it so badly.
