Only 8 deaths for last week as well.
According to AZDHS it is due to a reporting error from one of their providers getting corrected.

Here is the tweet about the backfill

There are a couple twitter accounts that break it down pretty well every week - @Garrett_Archer is the best. (he's also great for election analysis)

right hand), so your post will have to serve as a correction of sorts. Although, many previous weekly and daily numbers used for comparison have likewise been tainted by catch-ups.

Usually the deaths are added to the previous months numbers. The weekly chart has been around half of the total cases added the past couple weeks, this one was particularly bad for backfilling. I think the last 3 weeks' numbers were like 3000, 2400 and now 2000.
Edit: Of course this also means that this weeks' numbers will likely be revised up in a month or so.

My daughter lives in PHoenix and of course I am concerned about things out there.

I plan to visit there in late July/early August so I am looking at those stats regularly

Most are from January and older... First chart is the added cases per week, the second total cases per week.
It's kind of a crappy way to report, but I get them needing to report the total cases added per week. Maybe that should not be the one they lead with.
