Broken glass can cut feet and leave litter across streams, according to Coconino National Forest

Beer bottles banned in Oak Creek

Red Rock beer drinkers will have to switch to cans this summer.

The U.S. Forest Service has banned glass food and beverage containers in Oak Creek
and Fossil Creek effective April 1. Broken glass can cut feet and leave litter across streams,
according to Coconino National Forest officials.

In Oak Creek, glass will be prohibited within 300 feet of the edge of the water, unless in a
designated picnic or camping area, or inside a vehicle. The ban stretches from Red Rock Crossing
all the way to Pumphouse Wash.

At Fossil Creek, the ban is in effect for one-quarter mile on either side of the stream bank,
which covers the entire Wild and Scenic River area from the Fossil Springs area down below Stehr Lake.
