Breaking: AZ GOP Sec. of State will not comply with Trump's voter order

“Under normal circumstances, limited voter registration records could be provided to a member of the public upon payment of the requisite fee under Arizona law along with a statement of non-commercial use. But this appears to be no normal request. Centralizing sensitive voter registration information from every U.S. state is a potential target for nefarious actors who may be intent on further undermining our electoral process. As a recent Politico article cautioned, for example, “cybersecurity specialists are warning that President Donald Trump’s voter-fraud commission may unintentionally expose voter data to even more hacking and digital manipulation.”

“Without any explanation how Arizona’s voter information would be safeguarded or what security protocols the Commission has put in place, I cannot in good conscience release Arizonans’ sensitive voter data for this hastily organized experiment,” continued Reagan. “For reasons outlined in this letter, therefore, I have directed my staff to withhold any provision of voter registration records based on the best interests of the State of Arizona.

“While I do not intend to provide the voter roll as requested in your letter, I do stand willing to be a resource to assist the Commission in its efforts to enhance the integrity of elections nationwide,” concluded the Secretary.

Arizona to oppose handing over voter information to Trump commission

http://www.azcentral.com/story/news/politics/arizona/2017/07/04/arizona-oppose-handing-over-voter-information-trump-commission/449221001/

Arizona Secretary of State Michele Reagan said Monday she is rejecting the Trump administration's request for extensive voter information, saying it isn't in the state's best interest.

Her decision, announced late Monday as the July 4 holiday neared, comes after nearly a thousand people had complained by email to her office about the possibility the state would hand over voter data to a commission looking into allegations of voter fraud.

It's also a reversal from her position last week.

On Friday, Reagan's office issued a statement that she would provide the White House with a less-detailed version of what it was seeking, based on media reports about what the federal commission would seek.

OUTSTANDING! I emailed and called Reagan's office several times. I am VERY HAPPY she reversed her decision. I have a feeling the Republican power structure in AZ is starting to realize they are not as solid and secure as they would like to think.
