I am a liberal moving to Modesto. I am looking for:
1. liberal friends,
2. a place to live, and
3. a good christian church where there are political liberals.

Can anyone give me any leades?

Modesto is a college town so that's good and you will be 2 hour drive away from Yosemite or the Bay Area.

5. Actually, Cal State-Stanislaus is in Turlock, the next town down

and there are several options to reach the Bay Area: Amtrak to Oakland (bus connection to SF), or drive to BART at Dublin/Pleasanton, about halfway in between.

The Gallo Center, a beautiful performing arts center downtown.

As for meeting like-minded people, I made the move from Oakland to Vacaville a few years back. I got to meet other liberals, particularly activists, by going to a Moveon.org house party. In this case, it was to see the Michael Moore movie Capitalism, a Love Story. I also met Democratic Party members and ended up phone banking for state and congressional candidates.
