More Americans bid pricey Silicon Valley goodbye

A new report based mainly on 2014 data has found that more Americans are leaving the tech hub than are arriving. Silicon Valley saw more than 7,500 U.S. residents move away in 2014, the first time since 2011 that the area has recorded a domestic net loss, according to the study by the Silicon Valley Competitiveness and Innovation Project (SVCIP)....

The lack of affordable housing on the Peninsula and in the South Bay is one big reason for the outflow of local talent. Home prices in the valley increased 13 percent between August 2014 and August 2015. Rents were up 12 percent....

While Silicon Valley is still creating jobs and worker productivity remains strong, there are several troubling findings that could strain future growth and prosperity. Among them:

—Despite the tech hub's reputation for genius and innovation, more than half of Silicon Valley's eighth-graders were not proficient on the state math exam, with large disparities in proficiency by race and ethnicity.

Yes, it's a very nice neighborhood; yes, Silicon Valley is a source of well paying jobs for both of them.

Still...$2,400...600 sq. ft.
