Vote for 10 Billion dollars for schools Prop 38

Actor and Latino Chair for the "Yes on 38" school funding campaign, Edward James Olmos shares why he supports Proposition 38.

This is the first in a series of testimonials from Latino leaders talking about their support for Proposition 38. They're saying "I am 38" and you should be too.

For 12 years, Proposition 38 will raise $10 billion a year for public schools in California. Every school gets new money on a per child basis, the funds are controlled locally, and the legislature and the governor are strictly prohibited from using the money for any other purposes.

please share with your fellow CA voters.

(p.s. one of my friends worked on this proposition)

So there are now three proposed tax increases - 30, 38, and 39.

* Its tax hikes dip too far down into the middle class
* All the money goes to education; other pressing needs, such as Medi-Cal, IHSS, CalWORKS, etc. get bupkis.

Sorry, but I'm sticking with 30.

I just realized I was glancing at an old article from 2000, another Prop 38 from years ago. However there is language in the present Prop 38 about the money "following the child" (I'm paraphrasing from memory) that made my spidey senses tingle. Let me get back on what I find about that. Sorry for the alarm!

another 10 percent to early childhood education.

The remaining 30 percent goes to... (drum roll, please)...

...debt service.

Debt service?
