Thomas Jefferson Law School gets put on probation
SAN DIEGO -- The accreditation committee of the American Bar Association has placed Thomas Jefferson School of Law on probation, citing a litany of concerns from the downtown schools finances to the percentage of graduates who pass the state bar exam and find employment.
The action, taken by the ABAs Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar, went into effect on Monday. The decision set out specific steps the school has to take to get back in good graces and warned that immediate and substantial action was needed to get back in full compliance.
In a statement, Dean Joan Bullock said the school was disappointed in the ABA action but was going to work to meet ABA standards.
We have been and will continue to take the steps necessary to demonstrate full compliance with all ABA standards so that the law school can continue its longstanding tradition of educating and empowering our next generation of legal professionals, she said.
