I don't use the state voter guide much, as it is often missing a lot of information.

makes me think the people who run our elections are not very good at it.

on the left side...the diff positions are there, but not all the local districts' info would be listed in your local smaller guide.

did a search for several state senate and state assembly candidate names - none of them came up.
all I get is "no matches found."

for example, the candidates for state senator 34th district are umberg, samson, hawkins and nguyen. none of them appear in the state voter guide. nor do the candidates for the state assembly 72nd district.

The state voters' guide only covers the statewide races: state-wide propositions, governor, lt. governor, other state-wide offices, US senator. California has 54 or so congressional districts: candidates for these offices are covered in local guides, along with state senators and assemblypeople and local propositions.

Why do you think "the people who run our elections are not very good at it"? California runs the largest elections in the country, we're a big, diverse state, and we try to make sure that every ballot is counted. We make voting by mail easier than most states. We provide more information on candidates and issues than most states. You say that the voters' guides are often missing information - which information do you think they lack? If you mean info on various candidates, well, that's up to the candidates to provide: my rule of thumb when going through the lists for various offices is - if you can't be bothered to write a statement for the voters' guide then I can't be bothered to vote for you.

7. De Leon carrying water for Cadiz and Trump

From Wikipedia
Cadiz Water Project

In late 2017, a bill that would have blocked the controversial Cadiz Water Project, a proposal to mine and transfer groundwater from protected desert habitat in Eastern San Bernardino County to parts of Orange County, was killed by the State Senate appropriations committee.[28] Opponents of the project blamed de León, then President pro Tempore of the Senate, and pointed out that the company behind the project had donated $5,000 to de León's political campaign. Fabian Nuñez, a close ally and donor to de León, also represented company as its lobbyist.

From elsewhere
De Leon carrying water for Cadiz and Trump, unfit to be U.S. Senator
Last year, when the Trump administration started to remove environmental regulations that protected our beloved desert national parks and monuments from the disastrous Cadiz Inc. water mining project that the Obama administration had halted, it was disturbing to see U.S. Senate candidate Kevin de Leon working alongside Cadiz and the Trump administration. De Leon is visiting the Mojave Narrows Regional Park this weekend to pitch his campaign during a hike with local residents.

For those who love California’s national parks and who work in our booming tourism economy, de Leon’s handling of the Cadiz saga demonstrates why he is unfit to be U.S. Senator. As California’s State Senate President last year, he was responsible for shelving legislation that would have allowed state agencies to review the Cadiz project because the Trump administration removed required federal review. When Cadiz was first proposed nearly 20 years ago, federal review found significant flaws in Cadiz’s science, and the project was ultimately rejected. De Leon knew all of this, and knew that Cadiz proposes to pump 16 billion gallons of groundwater annually from our parks and monuments, decimating our water, parks, and economy.

What happened?

While state legislators and U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein were working to develop environmental protections for our California desert in response to the Trump-Cadiz partnership, de Leon was busy accepting campaign contributions from Cadiz Inc. and its cronies. Cadiz donated $5,000 to his campaign. His mentor Fabian Nunez, who runs the Mercury Public Affairs lobbying firm that represents Cadiz, also donated.

8. Feinstein voted for IWR

opposes marijuana legalization and single-payer healthcare.

they each have their pros and cons. but everything else being equal, I would go for de Leon over Feinstein just because she has gotten way too old. its time for new ideas and for the next generation of leaders to take their place.
