Is the report about joint military-LAPD exercises in downtown LA true?

As if the downtown area isn't already alive with the sound of ghetto birds, the LAPD announced this week that it will be conducting exercises with U.S. Armed Forces.

And those nighttime exercises will include buzzing, ominous helicopters.

The "joint military training exercises" being supported by our fine po-pos are being staged, in part, "to ensure the military's ability to operate in urban environments," according to an LAPD statement.

LA Weekly is generally reliable.

What is this about? The military has taken no time to implement the NDAA. But what terrorists are they expecting? There aren't any terrorists in the population of LA, I can assure you. Lots of unemployed actors and aspiring screenwriters, but I know a lot of people and have not met any terrorists.

Why the maneuvers?

Talk about chilling speech.

Counter-terrorism. Los Angeles is a major international city - there are a variety of extremist groups that would consider launching a terrorist attack in any number of forms.
