(saw this post on one of my teacher friends website.. had to share with others. It is hard to organized and very hard to strike. The Newspaper, only talk radio and 3 local TV channels all are owned and controlled by anti labor neo-cons. I know that the local talk radio KMJ will spew the hate against these teachers. Please send them positive energy and prayers. They need to know the power they have in Solidarity)

"Just took a look at the latest email update from Fresno Teachers Association.
It's always informative to see what is going on in Fresno Unified School District.
This is what the update said: "FTA's Bargaining Team has met with little cooperation from the District at the bargaining table. Regardless of the proposals and counter-proposals we submit to try to get this process moving, the District balks. They have sadly made virtually NO movement in key areas.

So...FTA members are wearing black on Monday, February 3, to demonstrate to the District that our members stand with our Team.

This "day of Mourning" is to express our disappointment with FUSD over the lack of bargaining progress. All members will be gathered together in huge groups on Monday, forced to sit through a day of C.O.R.E. indoctrination.

It is possible that little in the C.O.R.E. presentations will be particularly useful to you and your students. However, your mass presence, dressed in black, will send a message that YOU ARE FTA, and that you expect a decent raise and contract after years of doing without!" Let me make myself abundantly clear, my dear former colleagues.

I expect that every member of FTA, will be appropriately attired in black, preferably from head to toe. Post a group photo if you like. This is my bottom line, friends: YOU SUPPORT YOUR UNION. Wear black on Monday to show solidarity with your outstanding FTA negotiations team. Even though I'm retired now, you can bet I'll be wearing black.

the right wing neo con controlled media have been brainwashing the people of Fresno for 3 decades.. it hard for the solidarity to happen but I hope it is starting as they see the solidarity of workers in the last 5 years.
