680 was bumper-to-bumper from south of the Walnut Creek interchange, clear back to the Benicia bridge as late as 9:30 a.m.
I was heading from Cordelia to Santa Clara and was tempted to cut over to 80 since the backup was so bad, but it was also jammed.

(78,249 posts)You may want to consider the Capitol Corridor from Suisun/Fairfield. It has two stations in Santa Clara, and, I believe, discounted rates for daily commuters.

(19,459 posts)I drove down to get my youngest daughter's car smogged for her, as she is working on a particularly grueling audit that is keeping her at work until about midnight most nights. Logistics just wouldn't have worked.
