With the June 3rd election only 3 weeks away, I dont have a minute to waste. But Ive decided to spend next Saturday away from my campaign to join something even more important the March for Democracy. I will join the first day of the march this Saturday at 10 AM leaving from Los Angeles City Hall and as often as I can while keeping up my campaign schedule. Please join the March, however you can and together lets begin to turn the tide.

Marching 480 Miles to End Corruption

With the Supreme Court continuing to dismantle what little is left of our campaign finance laws, many of us are asking: What is it gonna take? What do we have to do to turn the tide and start winning in this fight to defend our democracy?
Well, some friends mine at 99Rise have answered that question in a way that inspires me. I want to tell you about it and ask you to join in with me in supporting this undertaking.
On May 17th, we will gather in Los Angeles to kick off a 480-mile march to Sacramento to demand the leaders of our nations largest state publicly acknowledge the crisis of corruption and take immediate action to end it.
Will you join me on the California March for Democracy?
Its time to for us to do something truly bold that will take our democracy movement to the next level. We need to send a message of hope across the country to the millions of Americans who believe in our cause but dont yet see that we can win.
Thats why Im joining the March for Democracy.
People will march 480 miles over the mountains and valleys of California, through small towns and cities alike. When marchers arrive at the state capitol June 22, theyll demand the legislature take immediate action to address the systemic corruption of California politics.
My friend Kai Newkirk of 99Rise - the man who was arrested for standing up and speaking out against corruption in the first-ever video-captured protest inside the Supreme Court chamber in February - will be leading the march. And already leaders like Lawrence Lessig, Dolores Huerta, and many more across the country have committed to join the walk. Others who can't walk have committed their support in many different ways.
From support drivers and social media champions, to logistical gurus and housing coordinators each step you can take will help make the march a success. Click here to sign up to help however you can!
With hope,
Derek

(22,271 posts)C'mon people. We need you. If you can't march, OK. If you can't be in Sacramento, OK. But if you're on the route maybe you can consider donating money or housing some of the marchers as they go through your town. This is an absolute grassroots effort and we need your support.

They are still interested in obtaining marchers, donations, and/or home stays if you're up for it. I'll be hosting them June 6-9 in Fresno -- a place in which they have had wonderful response and support from several people.
