Sacramento shelter for the homeless.

[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]This is an excellent article. I didn't know that Sac County no longer pays for winter shelters for the homeless... and our nights are already getting uncomfortably cold.

What Pastor Cole and others are doing via [font face="Arial"]Sacramento Steps Forward[font face="Verdana"] is very, very important and worth our support.

Give One Day to End Homelessness in Our Region

Join our campaign to raise $300,000 to help end homelessness in Sacramento. Every night there is a persistent need for available shelter options for individuals experiencing homelessness, and the need is greatest during our coldest winter months. We need your help to move individuals into safe housing so they can get the services they need to get back on track and back home.

As in past years, Sacramento Steps Forward, in partnership Capital Christian Center and as many as 30 faith congregations in our region, are coming together to offer shelter, meals, and services to these individuals through the Winter Sanctuary.

The program, which runs from November 24, 2014 – March 31, 2015, is Sacramento’s only privately-funded and its most cost-effective emergency shelter option, at just $11 per person, per night. These funds provide our guests with screenings, transportation, food, sleeping accommodations and more. Winter Sanctuary allows us to connect our most vulnerable residents with essential services that can help them get on the path to self-sufficiency.

It costs just $11 per person, per day to give a person in need a roof over their head and a warm place to sleep.
