CSU newspaper back in Lory after electioneering flap
Hours after demanding that CSU's student newspaper be distanced from an on-campus polling center over electioneering concerns, the Larimer County clerk on Tuesday changed course on her opposition to the placement of newspapers bearing front-page election coverage in the university's student center.
"To my way of thinking, it was pretty clear," Larimer County Clerk and Recorder Angela Myers said of her decision Tuesday to remove copies of the Collegian from stands in the Transit Center on the grounds that they prominently featured a front-page photo of Sen. Mark Udall, D-Colorado. Udall, who's running against Republican U.S. Rep. Cory Gardner, stumped at Colorado State University's Fort Collins campus Monday as part of his campaign for re-election.
Myers said she "modified her position" following immediate backlash from the media world, including a cease and desist letter she received from a media lawyer who said it's illegal to pull newspapers on the basis of electioneering because they were within 100 feet of the Lory Student Center polling location.
"Obviously, I'm seeing this now as kind of gray," said Myers, a registered Republican also up for re-election this November. She will permit papers that have "historically" been distributed in the student center to remain within in the 100-foot boundary of the polling center.

there has been a polling place in the student center for as along as i can remember and this has never been an issue
