The front page of yesterday's Denver Post claimed that this isn't a blue wave. This, just days after they bemoaned the loss of two Republican incumbent sheriffs in the metro area. (First-term sheriffs in Adams and Arapahoe counties.) Neither sheriff had any scandals, but they lost. Also in Adams county, the Republican incumbent county clerk lost. He actually did a good job in Adams county but you really can't trust Republicans in these types of positions. To think, after 2016 I was worried that Adams county had turned red. It's still a well-known Democratic county. Lets not forget Mike Coffman who we've been trying to get rid of for years.

All statewide elected positions went to Democrats. The Democrats re-took the state senate and another thread in DU talks about how the Secretary of State went to the Dems for the first time since 1963!

Yes, the midday clear sky isn't blue either. WTF, Denver Post? Oh, maybe they're seeing red--you know, like their dear leader donald trump. He's seeing red after this blue wave too.

How the media plays down Democratic Party successes in favor of the Republicans. The media isn't always on our side. The large mainstream media is owned by the 1% or close to it. So why would they be our cheerleaders. They're historically boosters of Republicans. Most of daytime MSNBC is a wasteland imo.

Moving along - Here in Jefferson County the R county clerk lost to the Dem. Even the Dem Treasurer candidate won. No doubt a result of voters going straight ticket. The CO SOS race was one that had me hand wringing and the Dem won that, too, thank goodness. It gives me confidence that we can work towards an even better electorate turnout two years from now.

To me, it feels like we'll be picking weeds that are left in the flower beds. We've cleaned out a bunch of impediments to healthy elections. But we have some more work to do ( cough - Cory Gardner - cough) and then the big job of maintaining will always be there. The R Party has been weakened but they'll regroup.

Yep, in their post-election editorial, the Greeley newspaper gave an unabashed wet sloppy kiss to the Republican Party. Yeah, we already knew, but seeing it in print was a bit like watching someone puke.

6. Aw such fun

to be a Democrat in beautiful blue Colorado right now. I moved here in 1975 partly because we had a good governor and Democrats who loved their environment and were working to stop the Olympics coming to Colorado. For many years I worked hard for the Dems and progressive policies like universal health care but Big Money from Big Oil, Coors, Denver Post and right wing Repugs too often prevailed. Never thought we could flip both houses with great liberal young people and elect the nation's first gay governor. Took a century after being governed by the Ku Klux Klan but won't be long til even Weld County will care more about Colorado than the money from Big Oil and gas.
