Person Struck By Train At L'Enfant Plaza Metro Station

BY CHRISTINA STURDIVANT IN NEWS ON OCT 13, 2017 9:52 AM

A man was struck by a Blue Line train at L’Enfant Plaza on Friday morning.

Blue, Orange, and Silver Line trains were temporarily suspended as officials investigated the scene.

Metro Transit Police officials said that the man intentionally jumped in front of the train, based on video footage. They have not said if the person has survived.

The incident comes less than two months after William Pete, Jr. purposely jumped in front of an Orange Line train at the same station and died from his injuries. According to a GoFundMe Page, Pete was homeless and suffered from bipolar disorder.

The train must have done something to deserve it. Unless the person was abusive and hated trains.

Braddock Road to Gallery Place on Thursday morning. This is the seat at the front of the train closer to the operator's cabin (i.e., the aisle seat, not the one next to the side wall). If you sit facing the aisle, you can turn 90 degrees to the left to watch the tracks, or you can look into the operator's cabin. Trains enter stations, including L’Enfant Plaza, at about 35 to 40 mph. If someone steps off the platform, the operator doesn't have the time to do anything.
