With Coronavirus Fears Spreading, Heres The Status Of D.C. Events

With threats of the coronavirus spreading across the globe, D.C. has
braced for an unusually slow tourist season. International tourisma segment that made up just under 10 percent of all visitors in 2018is especially expected to dip, as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have issued
travel warnings from six countries.
For now, most local arts and entertainment institutions are operating normally and heightening their cleaning efforts in event spaces. All Smithsonian museums are open and operational, according to a spokesperson. At the Kennedy Center, events and performances produced by the venue are going on as planned.
At music venues owned by I.M.P.including 9:30 Club, Lincoln Theatre, and The Anthemall shows are going on as scheduled. I.M.P. communications director Audrey Fix Schaefer acknowledged that it is a changing scenario and said I.M.P. leadership is in contact with city officials about the spread of the virus.
The Cherry Blossom Festival, which is
slated for March 20, is currently still planned. Mayor Muriel Bowser said at a press conference on Monday that the city is actively monitoring the situation.
