Heavy rain event likely in D.C. area Thursday, with areas of flooding.

'One to two inches of soaking rain is likely to cap a historically wet April.

Rain has fallen on six straight days, and more than five inches has fallen this April. On Thursday, the waterlogged month may have a fitting grand finale with yet another deluge.

As a slow-moving cold front plows through the region, one to two inches of rain is likely, with the possibility of locally higher amounts.

The bulk of the rain is expected to fall between Thursday morning and afternoon west of Interstate 95, in the afternoon into the early evening near the interstate, and in the late afternoon and evening to the east. However, this timing may shift some as the event draws closer.'>>>
